Toyota is updating the Grand Highlander for 2027 with a new Woodland Edition. It adds a modest boost in capability along with several equipment upgrades.

Like the RAV4 and Sienna Woodland models, it uses black accents and badging, plus matte black 18-inch wheels fitted with all-terrain tires. Taller springs increase the Grand Highlander’s ground clearance by an additional half inch (13 mm).

Additional exterior changes include roof rails and LED fog lights, while a tow hitch and mud guards are standard.

Based on the XLE trim, the Woodland’s cabin receives several distinctive features. Among them is a removable second-row cooler/console that holds up to six 12-ounce cans. All-weather floor mats and a cargo tray with pop-up dividers are also included.

Beyond the Woodland-specific equipment, the SUV gets a heated steering wheel, “enhanced lighting,” and second-row captain’s chairs. A 120V/1500W power outlet is also installed in the second row.

The Grand Highlander Woodland Edition is priced from $48,780 and is offered exclusively with all-wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain. The system combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a nickel metal hydride battery, an electric motor, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission to produce 245 hp (183 kW / 248 PS).

Grand Highlander Hybrid Max Platinum

The $60,475 Grand Highlander Hybrid Max Platinum also receives several changes. Chrome, silver, and gunmetal accents are replaced with black trim, including the body-color mirror caps and shark fin antenna.

Despite those styling revisions, the Hybrid Max Platinum retains its performance-oriented powertrain: a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, six-speed automatic transmission, small battery, and rear eAxle. Together, they deliver 362 hp (270 kW / 367 PS) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque.

Other Grand Highlander Trims Receive Smaller Updates

For 2027, Toyota adds the new trim but removes the Hybrid Nightshade Edition and Hybrid Max Limited. The Platinum powered by the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 265 hp (198 kW / 269 PS), also gets new two-tone 20-inch wheels.

XLE models with gas and hybrid powertrains add a heated steering wheel and new 18-inch wheels finished in dark gray paint.

The 2027 Grand Highlander is scheduled to reach dealerships later this year, with pricing beginning at $42,560 before the $1,595 destination fee. That represents a $300 increase over the outgoing model.

Toyota’s 2027 Grand Highlander lineup adds the Woodland Edition, which brings mild off-road enhancements, exclusive exterior details, and interior upgrades while pairing all-wheel drive with a 245-hp hybrid system. The Hybrid Max Platinum receives darker styling, other trims gain equipment updates, and two versions are discontinued. The refreshed range starts at $42,560 before destination fees and arrives later this year.
