Audi introduced the new-generation RS5 in February 2026 as a rival to the BMW M3, while also replacing the discontinued RS5 Coupe and RS4 Avant. The strategy appears to be paying off, with the model becoming a sales success in Europe as Audi prepares to expand its availability to global markets.

Audi has not published exact sales figures, but says European RS5 orders are “nearly twice as high as expected.” The automaker describes it as the most successful launch in the history of the RS5 nameplate. Production allocated for 2026 is also fully sold, so customers placing orders now will not receive their cars until next year.

The latest RS5 is available as a five-door Sedan and Avant, with no two-door Coupe version. Its distinctive bodykit features aggressive bumpers, widened fenders and large dual oval tailpipes, clearly separating it from less powerful Audi sedans and wagons.

Built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture, which also underpins the latest A5, A6, Q5 and Q7 lines, the RS5 combines a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 with a single electric motor. Total output is 630 hp (470 kW / 639 PS) and 825 Nm (609 lb-ft) of torque.

The plug-in hybrid system uses a 25.9 kWh battery and quattro all-wheel drive with an electromechanical torque-vectoring rear transaxle. Official figures put the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time at 3.6 seconds, while top speed reaches up to 285 km/h (177 mph).

Global Expansion Is Underway

After the strong reception in Europe, Audi is taking the RS5 to additional markets worldwide. It is now launching in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Japan, with Korea, Taiwan and other overseas markets to follow. Reports indicate that the RS5 Avant will not be offered in the U.S., although the RS5 Sedan could arrive there in the future.

The RS5 is the priciest model in the A5 range. In Germany, its home market, the Sedan starts at €106,200 ($118,600), while the Avant costs from €107,850 ($120,500). Both versions are produced at Audi’s Neckarsulm plant in Germany.

Formula 1-Inspired Exterior

The announcement came before the Singapore Grand Prix, scheduled for Oct 9-11. To celebrate the event, the Audi Revolut F1 Team unveiled a special livery for its Audi R26 single-seater, drawing inspiration from Singapore after dark.

The roadgoing RS5 received a similar treatment, using a special version of the Titanium Silver Gray paint with a bluish shimmer and matte finish. Audi says the color will not be available to customers because it was created specifically for the Formula 1 race.

The new Audi RS5 has become a major early success in Europe, attracting nearly twice the expected number of orders and selling out its 2026 production allocation. Available as a Sedan and Avant, it combines a twin-turbo V6 with plug-in hybrid assistance for 630 hp. Audi is now expanding availability to additional global markets, although the Avant is not planned for the U.S.
